SEJARAH KAMI

1984

Founder, Dato' Chui Ah Hock, started his business trading at morning and night markets with the purchase of a three-wheel push cart. From a humble beginning, he grew his business focusing on potatoes, onions, garlic and dried chillies, and became a leader among his peers.

1994

The company opened its first traditional market wholesale store under the name Pasaran Segi in Selayang Wholesale Market

1997

Inception of Segi Agriculture Enterprise, a new division to focus on the dual development of wholesale and retail sectors, bypassing middlemen and agents to provide more value for money to consumers.

2000

Opening of our second wholesale store, Pemborong Segi in Cheras, followed by new stores in Balakong and Kampung Melayu Subang.

2009

Establishment of Segi Marine Enterprise to source seafood directly from fisherman both locally and abroad. SME also supplies meat and poultry fresh from farms to wholesalers and retail chain stores.

2010

The appointment of Mr Chia Ah Hoo as the group's Non-Executive Chairman, responsible for the group's future development and provision of essential solutions. 

2010

The establishment of Segi Logistics with the aim to enhance Segi's distribution channels via an integrated logistics solution with the fully implemented SAP system.
Segi Realty, the group's real estate investment arm, was also established to support the overall expansion of the group.

2011

Segi Value Holdings was formed to consolidate the group’s core businesses and strengthen its operational efficiency and overseeing the groups’ chain stores.

2012

Rebranding of Pemborong Segi in Telok Panglima Garang to Segi Fresh. The flagship store became the model store for upgrading the traditional wholesale supermarket to a modern retail supermarket.

2013

The appointment of Tan Hon Yik as non-executive director, responsible for fortifying the group's marketing strategies.

2014

YM Dato' Syed Haizam Jamalullail joined the company as non-executive director to further strengthen the company and business model strategically.

2016

The group embarked on it's 5-year development plan with new business model that focus on small-sized neighbourhood supermarket offering freshness and convenience to consumers.

2020

Pasar Segar Segi Fresh proudly launched its 50th store in Pandamaran.

2022
Segi Fresh Teluk Panglima Garang Relaunch

Relaunch of Segi Fresh Teluk Panglima Garang Mall. With the expansion of the New Wing, the mall now supports small local businesses to cater to the need of the local community.
Segi Fresh launched its first-ever Member App and successfully registered over 200,000 members in its loyalty programme.
The company closed the year with the opening of its 75th store at Parit, Perak.

2023
2023 Milestone
Milestone: 100th Store by end of 2023

The group is set to achieve its 100th store milestone by end 2023, focusing its next wave of expansion plan in Klang Valley and Perak.

Memandang Ke Masa Depan

Kumpulan SEGI menyasarkan untuk membuka pasar raya Segi Fresh ke-100 menjelang penghujung 2023, disokong oleh tumpuan khusus terhadap penembusan pasaran di Lembah Klang dan di lebih banyak kawasan, terutama di sekitar utara Semenanjung.

Dengan 60 kedai dalam tangan, 40 cawangan lagi akan dibuka secara berperingkat dengan fokus syarikat untuk mewujudkan rangkaian logistik yang lebih baik menuju ke utara dan memanfaatkan makanan laut dan petani untuk dipasarkan di Segi Fresh.

Sehingga kini, Segi Fresh sudah pun berada di Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor dan Perak meliputi pelbagai bentuk premis perniagaan termasuk bangunan bujang yang mencecah keluasan sehingga 40,000 kaki persegi.

Bagi kedai baharu itu, tumpuan adalah beroperasi di premis berbentuk kedai membabitkan tiga hingga lima lot dengan keluasan sekitar 5,000 hingga 7,000 kaki persegi. Memandangkan lebih ramai pelanggan kini lebih suka mengunjungi pasar raya bersaiz kecil, untuk mencari kemudahan, ia menjadi model perniagaan yang lebih sesuai.

Dengan harapan untuk memastikan perniagaan Segi Fresh berkembang sejajar dengan faedah kepada nelayan dan petani tempatan melalui inisiatif itu, mendapatkan bekalan terus daripada mereka tanpa orang tengah bagi membolehkan nelayan dan petani menjana pendapatan yang lebih baik.

Ini juga bertepatan dengan objektif Segi Fresh yang bukan sahaja mahu menyediakan hasil segar kepada pelanggannya tetapi juga mewujudkan peluang kepada masyarakat setempat dari segi pekerjaan dan pendapatan.
